LIFE UPDATE. School/Work/Family Trip and more...

So where in the world have I been?!

Last time I wrote a post was in early September. I was scrolling through my blog and whispered to myself "I miss this". To be completely honest with you and myself though, I didn't have the motivation and I lacked writing inspiration.

It got to a point where I felt like I was wasting my time, I would put out a post and it felt like the time I spent writing it was not matched with the people if any, that would read it. That has never been something I cared about much, but I guess as I write more and more I have realized I don't just want to be writing for myself, I want to be writing for others. That has always been at the back of my mind.

There has also been a lot going on in which I have not had time to just sit and write, so the fact that I am writing right now is a breathe of fresh air. So, here is a little life update for you all!

If you follow me on Instagram you know that I graduated and walked in my school's ceremony. There are two other classes that I have to finish up this Fall in order to officially get my degree sent to me so that is what I have been working on. They are two classes that I have been struggling in and have failed in the past. That has been been kind of discouraging, so I have been trying to get all the tutoring I can possibly get to finish and officially move forward. If you are struggling in school or academics has not always been your strong suit, that is okay.. it is not a competition as to who can finish first, although society makes us think it is. Some of us need to apply ourselves to our studies more than others and that is okay, it builds character.

I have one word for how work is going right now.. DRAMA. I work at a girls group home and recently there has been some incidents between staff and the residents that has called for investigation. I have also experienced  lashing out from these girls towards me and have had to learn how to not take it personally and to stay calm and professional even when I want to pull my hair out. It is all a learning experience, especially since I want to go higher in this field of social services and working with at risk youth, I am going to have to start now and gain tough skin.

My family has been planning a HUGE trip to Nigeria for December for two weeks! So you can imagine all the preparations that has been going on in my personal life. I have never been outside the country EVER so I will definitely be documenting this trip on this blog and my Instagram for you all.

If you do not know already about a month ago, I was on the voices of mental health podcast. I discussed my journey through depression and low self esteem, as well as the importance of representation for people of color. If you want to check it out! I would love to know your opinions on the topic.

I have also been an ambassador for the Mental health Initiative called Worth Living. Now they have been working hard to spread there initiative around the world. They have been launching many chapters such as WL South Africa, WL United Kingdown, WL Eygpt etc. I was given the honor to lead a Worth Living Chapter in my own city. With that being said, WL San Dimas has been launched.

Due to all the responsibilities I have been distracted with, I haven't put the time I have been wanting to put into this chapter to really get it going. But I figured a good start was to at least mention this project on my blog.

(  I will be doing a seperate post about this if you are interested!)

Going On Adventures!

I have been making it a point for me to not lock myself in my house and just do school, homework, sleep, work and that's it. I want to become more adventurous! There is always something you can do every day it doesn't have to be major. For me this has become really important because I tend to be unmotivated in every aspect of my life and I end up in these slumps that takes me forever to get out of. So everyday I try to at least try a new restaurant with a friend, go for a jog, go on a ice cream date with myself! what ever it is that gives me a breathe of fresh air.
