Shame. Guilt. Regret.. ( Original) Poem

I was not 100% sure what to name this piece but I'm liking the title that I have at the moment. A lot of you seem to be having a positive response to my poems which I am really relieved about. A lot of these poems I tend to come up with on the spot when I am feeling a certain way.

For those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile, you might be thinking that all this is kind of random,  all of a sudden posting my poems on my blog, but  I guess I have been having a wave of inspiration, and I like this, this whole once in a while throwing a original piece to you all here and there.

I might make a separate page on my blog that is just for my poems so it is easier to find, but for now I am just testing the waters. Enjoy Friends (:

You are told go faster
But instead you slow down
Turn right but you turn left
Conditioned to feel shame about your path

Now it is set.
Shame Guilt Regret
You Should of, you could of, you didn’t
Maybe if, Maybe then, maybe that
Imagine this, Imagine that.. If only
If only I would of, If only I could of
Guilt has crept in
Lies about your identity
Lies about your character
Made and formed because your not reaching
That hill
That hill they so desperately want you to reach
You.. struggling, regretting your detours
Continuing to dig yourself a pit.

Now it is set.

Shame Guilt Regret
You Should of, you could of, you didn’t
Maybe if, Maybe then, maybe that
Imagine this, Imagine that.. If only
If only I would of, If only I could of

Change the concept. Reverse the mindset
The Present Moment. God is calling you by name
“Look at the new thing I’m about to do in you” he says
Stay. And Know that I am God.
Shame, Guilt, Regret were all nailed to the cross..
You Are Mine. Now it is set
Shame, Guilt Regret.. has DIED.

  1. I really enjoyed this! You have a great ear for rhythm in poetry; each line felt like its own drumbeat. Have you considered doing spoken word/slam poetry? Something about this piece gave me a sense that its power would only grow from being read aloud.

Wonderful to read this, and I look forward to you sharing my poetry! I think it'll make a great addition to your blog!

    1. Thank u Lexi that means a lot! Doing spoken word has crossed my mind but never really gave it much thought. That is actually something I would love to get into in the future though (:

  3. Beautiful poem! I wrote something similar at church on how Christ nailed our shame to the cross. We are free in Him!
